How It's Made

Six Hours of Hands, Three Days of Love

Every ornament is made by hand, one at a time. Here's what goes into yours.

1. I listen first.

The first thing I ask is, "What are you thinking?" Then I want the meaning behind it: what matters most, what must be included, and anything to leave out.

2. I research and design.

I spend the first couple of hours on design alone. For a wedding ornament, I study your invitation and even your wedding website, then work out exactly what goes on the front and what goes on the back.

3. I build it in layers.

Each layer is hand-applied to the inside of the glass and needs about four hours to dry before the next. That's why every ornament takes about three days, even though my hands are on it for about six hours.

4. I glitter it twice.

Every ornament gets two layers of glitter, so ten years from now you won't find stray sparkles in the box. Sometimes I dot glitter on with a toothpick, one tiny crystal at a time.

5. I add the heart.

Every ornament I make has a little red heart at the neck, for my mom, who loves red hearts. It's my signature, and next to it is a personal message just for you.

6. I wrap it with care.

Your ornament is cushioned and tucked into my signature black gift bag. Add a keepsake box, or a decorated one I design to match your ornament.

You'll approve a proof before I begin, and your ornament ships about 2 weeks after you approve it. Christmas orders close November 15.
